AU Eagles Cage ODU Panthers 47-21

ASHLAND, OH-  The Ashland University Eagles rolled to their 18th straight home win at Jack Miller Stadium/Martinelli Field with a 47-21 win over Ohio Dominican University.

The Eagles were impressive on offense gaining 563 total yards with quarterback Travis Tarnowski going 22-30 for 377 yards and two touchdowns both going to wide receiver Matt Wilcox.  Wilcox latched on to five passes for 147 yards thrilling the home crowd with a catch and run of 74 yards and a score in the first half that gave Ashland a 13-7 lead with 11:26 to go in the second quarter.  Kameron Green caught six for 61 yards. 

The Eagles were just as effective on the ground gaining 186 yards on 44 attempts.  Andrew Vaughn led the way with 125 yards on 21 carries scoring two touchdowns. Vaughn also latched on to five passes for an additional 82 yards.  Teammate Luke Ogi was next in line carrying the mail for 72 yards on 15 carries scoring one touchdown in the second quarter.  

For Ohio Dominican, quarterback Grant Russell was 24-35 passing for 370 yards and three touchdowns.  Receiver David Turner caught nine passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns with teammate Cory Contini catching six for 156 yards and one score.  

With the win, Ashland University improves to 1-1 on the season while Ohio Dominican drops to 0-2.  The Eagles will jump into GLIAC play hitting the road next Saturday taking on 2-0 Northwood.  The Timberwolves defeated Siena Heights 38-7 in week one and Missouri S&T 47-34 Saturday.
