Lucas guard Tyler Westfield goes up in traffic for 2 of his game high 20. ..

Lucas grabbed just their 4th win of the season as they knock off St Petes, 59-48, to advance to the D4 Galion Sectional Final.

The first quarter set the tone for the rest of the game, as a series of small runs by both teams would see the game at 11-10 heading into the 2nd quarter. Lucas would open up the 2nd on a 6-0 run to go up 17-10, but St Peter's Eddie Woolley would get hot scoring 8 straight points to tie the game at 19-19. The Cubs would then get hot from long range as 3 balls by Tyler Westfield and Zac Moffett put Lucas up 27-20 at the break. The 3rd quarter was dominated by St Petes, as the Spartans zone defense confused the Cubs, holding them to just 6 points in the stanza. A pair of triples by Travis Baker would lead the Spartans to a 34-33 lead heading into the final 8 minutes of play. The 4th quarter started at a blazing pace with both teams trading buckets back and forth for the first 4 minutes of action. But Lucas guard Tyler Westfield took over late, as he either scored or assisted on several back breaking baskets down the stretch to help the Cubbies pull away for an 11 point victory. Westfield led all scorers with 20 points for Lucas, Nick Stone and Quinton Foss each contributed with 12. Eddie Woolley led St Petes with 19 points in his final high school game, Ryan Eaton was next with 9.

Lucas will advance to play Mansfield Christian Friday night in a sectional final contest at Galion High School. St Peter's ends the season at 3-16 and saw seniors Eddie Woolley, Chris Amalfitano and Charlie Swank in a Spartan uniform for the last time.
