Port Clinton's Cory Brown shows off the "goose eye" after hitting a 3 in the Redskins 47-40 win over Madison. ..

It was a close game for much of the contest, but when it was all said and done, size would prevail as the undefeated Redskins used their height advantage to knock off Madison, 47-40.

Madison did exactly what they needed to do early by jumping out to an early lead and frustrating Port Clinton, who struggled to make shots against the Rams 2-3 zone. Josh Gullett and Shaquille Brooks would combine to score the first 11 points of the game for Madison, who would own a 13-4 lead after the first quarter. Port Clinton was able to knock down a trio of triples in the 2nd quarter to get them back into the game, but Madison was able to produce just enough fire power of their own to lead at half-time, 20-17. The 3rd quarter would belong to the Redskins, as they looked inside early and often and were able to total their out-put from the first 2 quarters combined, with 17 points in the stanza to take a 34-27 lead through 3. Madison's defense continued to struggle matching up with the size of Port Clinton and the Redskins were able to capitalize in the paint, shooting 65% for the 2nd half and out-rebounding the Rams 39-24. Several missed free-throws by the Redskins would keep the door open for a Madison come back, but the Rams were unable to capitalize down the stretch, shooting just 32% in the 2nd half. Josh Francis led Port Clinton with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Allen Tigner did his part with 14 and 9. Madison's Shaquille Brooks had a game high 17 points in the contest, Delvonta Cheatem contributed with 8 in his last game as a Ram.

Port Clinton will now advance to the Ashland District Final to face Bellvue, Saturday night at 7:00 pm. Madison finishes their season at 13-9 and suited up seniors Brad Robinson and Delvonta Cheatem for the last time.
