Mansfield Police are investigating the murder of a man that occurred in the area of 252 Sycamore Street Tuesday evening.

Mansfield Police Detective Sergeant Joe Petrycki said the homicide occurred at 8:15 p.m.  He said officer Dave Johnson was patrolling in the area of 252 Sycamore Street when he saw two black males arguing in the street.

Petrycki said the officer Johnson saw Christopher L. Brown, 27, of 344 W. Sixth Street pull out a handgun and fire five shots at DeCarrio A. Couley, 25, last known address 380 King Street.

Brown then turned and fired a shot at Johnson. Petrycki said the officer began to chase Brown on foot and Brown got away in a nearby alley. The officer was not injured.

Couley was transported to MedCentral Mansfield Hospital where he was pronounced dead around 8:45 p.m.

Petrycki said Brown will be facing murder charges. A warrant was issued for Brown's arrest.  He said Brown is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Christopher L. Brown should contact Detective Joe Petrycki at 419-755-9764.
