Mansfield City Council's finance committee met Monday night to continue to address the city's 2010 budget.

Finance committee members decided to send just one proposal to council for a vote next Tuesday, Mansfield Mayor Don Culliver's and not their own.

The finance committee's proposed budget would have eliminated the city recreation department and made deep cuts in the city's engineering department, which is a non-mandated department.

Councilman Doug Versaw suggested the city needs to form a deficit reduction committee immediately to address what looks to be an $8 million deficit in the safety fund and general fund.
