Mansfield Senior and Ashland met for the 3rd time this season on Friday night, with the Tygers squeaking by the Arrows 60-56 to take the Willard sectional title.

It was a competitive contest throughout, with the teams each scoring 12 points after the first quarter of play. The Tygers would make a nice run in the 2nd quarter that would have them up by as many as 7, but Ashland came storming back to pull within a point, 30-29, heading into half-time. Senior High got into a nice groove in the 3rd quarter, as several Tygers got involved on the offensive end. Ashland would hang tough though and battle back from 8 points down to make it 44-39 heading into the final quarter. The Arrows stayed within striking distance of Mansfield Senior until the final whistle, but the Tygers never seamed to be in trouble as they held off an Ashland run to take the sectional title.

Mansfield Senior improves to 20-1 overall and will face Marion Harding Thursday night at 7:00 in a district semi-final at Willard High School. Ashland ends their season at 7-15 and suited up seniors Grant Fairhurst, Ryan Carper and Blake Delaney for the final time in an Arrows uniform
