Shelby Police Officers, through their Fraternal Order of Police Lodge, are joining others on St. Patrick's Day to help raise money for childhood cancer research. Eleven of the 15 Shelby Officers will have their heads shaved on Wednesday, March 17 at Legends Sports Bar on West Main Street in Shelby, beginning at 5 p.m.

Donations also can be made online to the Shelby F.O.P Lodge 180, or to an individual officer or can be mailed to the Shelby Police Department F.O.P Lodge 180 or can be made directly on the night of the event.

Ten years ago, the founders of the St. Baldrick's Foundation got together on St. Patrick's Day and had their heads shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research. Since 2000, events have raised more than $68-million.
