MANSFIELD, OH - The Richland County Foundation awarded close to $355,400 in scholarships to Richland County students this year.

RCF Scholarship Committee Chairman Chan Stevens reported 276 students received scholarships from various funds. The average scholarship amount was $1,343.

"Something new for us is we're attempting to make a bigger impact with students attending trade schools," said President and CEO of the Richland County Foundation Brady Groves. "We're starting to move away from traditional baccalaureate and associate degree pursuits to folks that are looking to develop skilled trades. We're happy to report that we impacted five of those students this year. We currently have over 70 scholarship funds, we probably do one or two every year. We also have many others that support existing funds. By far, it represents the largest number of students through grants that the Foundation does."

Scholarships are awarded based on a student's financial need. Applications for scholarships are available on the Richland County Foundation's website.
