It's hard to put into words just how much some families have lost, after storms ripped through parts of the Midwest the last two days. A pile of rubble is all that's left of Cody Murphree's home in Pilger, Nebraska, but right now, that's the furthest thing from his mind. "I know that tornadoes are destructive," Murphree says. "I've had to clean up a few myself, but I've never been in this situation." His mother, Kandee, is in a medically-induced coma, and doesn't know yet that Cody's 5-year-old sister, Callie, is dead. "I don't even know how I'm going to tell her," Murphree says. "I'm still trying to figure it out." The storms also destroyed a home in Stanton that doubled as a daycare. "I laid on the two littlest of the four kids, and everything fell on top of us," says Amy Kremlacek, a storm victim. Miraculously, they all survived, though Amy Kremlacek and her husband are still being treated at the hospital. More funnel clouds formed in northern Nebraska on Tuesday, as another round of thunderstorms rolled through, sweeping into Wisconsin, which saw its share of the damage from the first round of storms early Tuesday. A tornado touched down and lifted several times, as the wind heavily damages more than 40 homes in Madison and nearby Verona. Survivors count themselves lucky, especially after close calls like this one. This bank in Pilger was basically ripped in half with nine people still inside, most of them taking cover inside the vault, all of them narrowly escaping injury.
