Families in two New Mexico communities are evacuated, as a wildfire has grown to more than 10,000 acres. Karen Johnny lives in Crystal, New Mexico. "Since I was a little girl," she says. Blooming outside her home... "We have never experienced such a fire as devastating as this," Johnny says. Huge plumes of smoke continue to billow from the Chuska Mountains, between Shiprock and Gallup. Officials tell us the fire ignited here Friday afternoon, after someone burning leaves by Assayii Lake lost control of the flame. A Naschitti resident snapped these pictures. Already more than 10,000 acres have burned. That's about 15 square miles, and it's likely to get worse. "It's apparently really jumping and because of this high wind, that's what's triggering it," Johnny says. Officials have evacuated parts of two surrounding communities, Naschitti and Sheep Springs. They tell us, so far, no one has been hurt, and no homes or businesses have been destroyed. More than 800 firefighters are now here to help fight the fire. "We welcome all help and seek all help for our Navajo people here," says Johnny.
