WMFD.com - Cleveland Cavaliers take Andrew Wiggins of Kansas with first overall pick.

For the second straight year the Cleveland Cavaliers had the number one overall pick in the NBA draft, and for the second straight year they chose a player north of the border taking 6'8" 241lb. shooting guard/small forward Andrew Wiggins of Kansas.

Wiggins averaged 17 points per game and six rebounds a contest while shooting 34% from behind the arc in his only season at Kansas. In March he scored 41 points against West Virginia, the most by a player in the Big 12 since Michael Beasley dropped 44 on Baylor in 2008. Wiggins is from Canada and is the second ever Canadian player to to be taken number one overall in the NBA draft. The first being Anthony Bennett out of UNLV, also selected by the Cavaliers in 2013.

The Cavaliers are also sending Alonzo Gee to Charlotte for Brendan Haywood and the rights to 6'11" 234lb. Dwight Powell of Stanford who averaged 14 points and seven rebounds a contest for the Cardinal.
