Behind a no-hitter and 14 strike outs from pitcher Lexi Falde, the Mansfield Christian Flames softball team advanced to the Division IV district semifinal next week at Shelby with a 4-0 win over Crestline in the D-4 sectional final.

Despite the no-hitter Crestline's defense kept the game scoreless through four and a half innings. But in the bottom of the fifth, MCS got on the board on a dropped fly ball on the infield with two outs that allowed the Flames Aimee McPeek to score from second after she had singled earlier in the inning putting Mansfield Christian up 1-0 after five. After the Bulldogs were unable to score in the top of the sixth, the Flames would add three more runs in their half of the frame loading the bases on a on an error, walk and a bunt single with one out by Charlinta Adkins. Falde then helped her own cause with a run scoring single that was followed by a two run single by McPeek which put the Flames up 4-0.

In the top of the seventh after an error, Falde got the final Crestline batter to fly out giving the 15-8 Flames their second sectional title since 2012. The win advances MCS to the Division IV district semifinal at Shelby next Wednesday night at 5pm against the winner of the Plymouth/Buckeye Central sectional final.
