It's that time of year again for baseball coaches, especially those trying to win a conference championship and at just about the same time win tournament games which can play havoc with a teams pitching staff. At Madison where the Rams are 18-5 in all games and 11-1 in the OCC, the team with a win over Wooster will win the conference outright, their first since 2007. But at the same time they are also prepping for rival Mansfield Senior in the Division I sectional final game at Madison.

The game was to be played on Thursday, but has been pushed back to Friday at 5pm because of the weather. With the tournament game coming up, it appears that the team may be playing at Wooster on Saturday, but that is not certain as the Generals are also trying to play their tournament schedule which has also been delayed by weather. No matter, Madison coach Doug Rickert is confident in his pitching staff saying he has faith in all of them.  Blake Lampert and Michael Penny have been two of the big wheels on the hill this season with Bo Curvin starting to round back into pitching shape after an injury to his throwing arm.

While the Rams need one win in a two game set with Wooster to claim the conference outright, the Generals need to win both against Madison to claim the title. In order to advance to Division I district semifinal play at Carter Park at Bowling Green the Rams will need to beat Mansfield for the third time this season. Madison won both games with the Tygers at the beginning of April by scores of 12-1.
