With the building anticipation of the NFL Draft combined with the dubious feeling that all Cleveland fans get on draft night, faithful Browns supporters Brian Skowronski and Amy Schopp knew they were in for a wild ride during Thursday's opening round.

But not even a true Browns fan could have anticipated the craziness that would ensue during Cleveland's draft process, trading a total of three times during the first round of picks and selecting one of the most polarizing prospects in recent memory.

After trading the number four overall pick to the Buffalo Bills for the number nine overall pick, plus Buffalo's first and fourth rounders in 2015, the Browns would again trade for the number eight pick before making a selection. Cleveland would draft stud cornerback Justin Gilbert from Oklahoma State with the eighth pick, much to the chagrin of Browns fans packed into The Red Fox Tavern for the special draft party, but a player considered by many to be a top defensive prospect.

Cleveland's new General Manager Ray Farmer then took a short break before making his next bold move, trading the teams 26th overall pick and third rounder in this years draft to the Philadelphia Eagles for the number 22 selection. It was with this pick that Browns brass captivated the Cleveland fan base, Brian Skowronski in particular, by taking former Heisman trophy winning quarterback Johnny Manziel out of Texas A&M.

The pick seemed to satisfy many that were heavily disappointed the Browns did not select Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins earlier in the draft and may have brought Cleveland the franchise quarterback the city has been desperately seeking since coming back in 1999.
