After slipping past non-conference foe Mansfield Senior on Monday at home by a final of 5-2, the Ontario baseball team stands at 13-2 in all games. But more importantly the Warriors will play three league foes in Norwalk, Willard and Tiffin Columbian. The week is big as Ontario stands at 6-1 in the NOL, while Columbian is 6-0.

Coach Dan Gorbett says he is a little surprised by the team being in contention considering all the squad lost in pitching a year ago. But like the two years previous Gorbett says his team always comes ready to play and adds his young three, four and five pitchers will have to step it up with the NOL on the line and tournament coming up. Warriors senior catcher Brad Dretzka, who picked up two hits Monday and two RBI's against the Tygers, says the younger players have filled in well for those who have graduated. In Dretzka's view, the league title is right there we just have to go out and get it.

Ontario is also waiting the winner of the Bellevue/Sandusky sectional semifinal being played on May 10th. The winner of that game will play the Warriors in the Division II sectional final at Ontario on Thursday, May 15th at 5pm. The Division II district semifinal will be played at Madison on May 22nd.
