Ashland stayed perfect in conference play with a 6-2 win over Clear Fork Tuesday evening in Belleville.

The Lady Arrows took an early 2-0 lead on a 2-run blast by pitcher Racquel Ward in the top of the first, but the Lady Colts would respond with a score of their own in the bottom of the frame.

Ashland then tacked on another run in the second for a 3-1 advantage, before both defenses took over for the next three innings.

Ward says she "was impressed" with her teams defensive effort, finishing with 3 K's and 2 BB's on the hill. Clear Fork however, would inch closer with a score in the bottom of the sixth to pull within 3-2 of the Lady Arrows, but Ashland would put the game away with three runs in the top of the seventh.

"We're a comeback team" Ward says. "We're a good hitting team and that's what has showed."

The three-run frame would give the Lady Arrows a 6-2 victory and keep them spotless in OCC play.

Ashland now sits at 13-3 overall with a 9-0 mark in conference play. Clear Fork drops to 12-6 in all games, 5-4 in the OCC.
