Thanks to the efforts of Tri- Rivers Career Center in Marion, Pioneer Career & Technology Center will receive a Straight A Fund Grant of $1.5 million that will be used to increase training in Robotics, Manufacturing and Engineering.

“Tri-Rivers worked extremely hard to help Pioneer and seven other career centers receive funding so we could all become part of their RAMTEC Training efforts,” says Glenna Cannon, Pioneer Superintendent.

RAMTEC is short for Robotics and Automation Manufacturing Technology Center, a new training facility constructed on the Tri-Rivers campus. RAMTEC is designed to train high school and adult students so they may secure certifications in a variety of industrial areas.

Tri-Rivers actually received a total of $14.99 million of Straight A Grant money, which was issued through the Ohio Department of Education. The grant money will be split between Tri- Rivers, Pioneer and seven other career centers.

The Straight A Fund was created by Governor Kasich in budget year 2014-15 to support the implementation of innovative ideas and practices in Ohio’s schools. The Straight A Fund allows for ideas to come from educators themselves.

“The goal of the Straight A Fund is to assist educators with projects that will boost student achievement, promote collaboration and save money,” says Cannon. “Tri-Rivers’ efforts will allow multiple career centers, including Pioneer, to collaborate and work for the good of the student.
