A Galion High School Social Studies and Career Based Intervention teacher accused of having sexual relations with an underage student has resigned from the district. Superintendent Dr. Kathy Jenney said the board of education accepted Tanner's resignation Wednesday. "It's an unfortunate situation that has been in press. We accepted Ryan Tanner's resignation and we appreciate his time in the district," Jenney said. In February, Tanner pleaded not guilty to the charges. His bond was reduced from $500,000 to $250,000. Tanner remains in the Crawford County Jail. His trial is scheduled for April 16 and 17. Jenney said she will post a job opening in April for Tanner's position which will be filled by a certified social studies substitute to finish out the year. |
