| New information has been released in the Dec. 19 stabbing death of a Lexington High School graduate on the campus of the University of Toledo. University police Chief Jeff Newton said a report released by the Lucas County Coroner's Office revealed that Josiah Galat, 20, tested positive for the hallucinogenic designer drug called 25i. Galat, died of two stab wounds, one on each side of his neck. His death has been ruled a homicide. Another student was also injured in the incident that happened at the Horton International House. Erik Littleton, 19, sustained serious injuries. He was stabbed nine times. According to the Chief Newton, Littleton was unable to speak due to his injuries. According to the police report, a "hunting knife" was recovered from the scene. The report also stated another man was found on the scene that day. When police arrived they found Alexander Vogel, 18, naked and agitated. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and then arrested for disorderly conduct. Vogel, a former student, claimed he did not witness the fight. Whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the dispute is not being released at this time. Newton said DNA reports, toxicology and autopsy reports in the next few weeks will tell what happened that day. Newton said detectives will meet with prosecutor to determine if charges will be filed in the case. Newton confirmed Josiah Galat's UT identification badge was found on Littleton, though authorities aren't sure why at this time. The University of Toledo police department and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation is involved in the case and are reviewing camera evidence that could help in the investigation. Galat was a mechanical engineering student at the University of Toldeo. | ||||||
