An Ashland man has been charged with aggravated arson.

Kristopher Kaufman, 32, is charged with a first-degree felony count of aggravated arson in connection with a fire Saturday at 393 Sandusky St.

Kaufman is accused of starting a fire in the second-floor hallway of his apartment building.

Kaufman's bond was set for $40,000 Monday in Ashland Common Pleas Court.

Kaufman has a history of run-ins with the law.  In 2010, he pleaded guilty to arson, insurance fraud and misuse of a credit card. Kaufman set fire to his house at 1483 Willis Ave. and collected the insurance money.

In March 2012, Kaufman set fire to a trash bin outside Johnson's Auto Body & Repair in Ashland.
He was found guilty of criminal trespassing. He's jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation for one year.
